So what are people's pet peeves about the kink meme?

My number 1 is probably when Anons promise to complete a fic but they never do D: If no one pays attention to a request at least you know not to keep waiting and checking every day only to get disappointed U_U

I'd really love it if some of the more popular broad themes (EdgeworthxPhoenix, Gantrape, KlavierxApollo, etc) had their own special sections, so that we wouldn't get Whoah!mg floods of people requesting the same pairs three to four times a second. If we separated stuff out a little more, it'd be easier to

-find a prompt you'll want to fill
-find a fic you'll want to read
-avoid something you're not interested in
-tell if someone's requested your idea already

I'm so tired of seeing requests that apparently the entire kink meme wants filled out, but not a single person wants to write it. The OP is exempt since they posted the prompt, but all the others should get off their lazy asses :/ I feel like there wouldn't be so much to wade through if people stopped telling us that YES, this is a popular prompt.

I sometimes second things I'd like to read but don't think I can write myself, in the hopes that someone else will happen by and think, "Hmm, several people would like this. It would be worth my time to write it." I've also seconded some fics that I've put way down on my to-do list.

But you get six-seven people agreeing and no fic, it is a little annoying.

Honestly, I have trouble keeping track of what's what and it really does seem like a lot of kinks are getting completely ignored. I guess I'm just too stupid for the indexing, or something. I keep feeling I'm missing things.

Also when a great kink gets posted and is passed over, I'm not sure where I'm supposed to post it if it was posted awhile ago.

Also, well, I want more good fic and less awful, disappointing fic? But I guess that's part of the meme too.

Hey kids. :)

I was thinking of having a stab at re-attempting the Weekend Wrighting Spree... this time with doujinshi as prizes. 8D

Basically, for every prompt you fill (successfully, mind you, not just a sentence) you'd go into the draw for a doujinshi prize. I'm sure I could work out a way to do it without compromising anonymity, and preserving the high-quality of works.

A good way to encourage people to fill old requests? After all, if every single request got filled... how frikkin' AWESOME would that be!?!?!? :D

I'm sure we could all working-bee it together. What do you think?

(Also... maybe we need yet another post where people can post links to old, filled requests? That would stop people posting them in the current requesting section.)

I like that idea about a post for filled requests. Either a comm with a new post each day for people to post links in, or a threaded post with every new thread being a new day? (... I realize this is kind of hard, considering time differences -- I'm about 13 hours ahead of most people >_>;; ) Anyway, in this way, everybody is responsible for their own fic, and it doesn't fall to one person having to comb through pages and pages and try to figure out what's new and what's not.

If you do get a "writing weekend" started, I think it needs to be publicized on the kink meme as well? Just so everybody knows. (Anonymity won't be compromised if you screen comments, provided the authors don't mind one single person knowing what they wrote.)
(I may even be able to offer up dj, although it's hard to find quality PW doujin. Graar, Japan, why must you turn out dozens and dozens of shounen manga dj and none for a game that's basically canon gay?)

I IMed you about thsi a little while ago, but... would it be all right with you if I created a community to archive the kink meme prompts? It'd be a lot easier to maintain in a community/separate journal than it would in a post, what with the whole tagging system at all. Make things easy to find and edit. :)

Let's see...I may as well ask this here if it's discussion. I've noticed that almost all Apollo and Klavier requests have Apollo on the bottom. In the comments a lot, people seem to think of Apollo as a super weepy submissive uke. Where did this idea come from? In the game he seems like the complete opposite of a stereotypical 'bottom', at least to me he does.

I think a lot of it got set in people's minds before AJ even came out because it seems like that's the way he's portrayed in doujinshi. But yeah, Apollo's a lot like Phoenix in the manliness department.

Also, Klavier's a prettyboy. Why isn't he uke more often? Fandom logic seems very convoluted at times.

I think I've suggested this before, but... how about, in addition to archiving a list of the filled/unfilled prompts, a couple of us get together and create a random unfilled prompt generator like the pairing generator that was linked in Part 4?

While I know this would be a lot of work, it could be broken down into "unfilled prompts from part [insert number here]". (And then further by "het", "gay", blah blah blah.)

I'm not good at coding myself, but if people think it's a good idea I'm more than willing to give it a shot. :)

well, I have trouble seeking fics as it's constantly buried under the mass avalanche of comments. Sometimes good fics are hidden & I have to click the "thread" or "expand" button till it annoys me.

What I like to suggest is that fics have some sort of indicator (eg FIC:whateveryourtitlesis, FIC:delivered or Fill:idonnomytitle etc)so that it's easy for the indexer or reader to read & comment.

any thoughts?

I put my titles in the subject line, or some other indicator ("delivered!" "Here you go!") if it's untitled crack. That works fairly well for me when I'm browsing.

But it seems like a good idea for everyone to try to make it obvious when they're filling the request.

What do you do when you post a prompt near and dear to your heart, and then when it finally gets filled, it's filled in a way you don't like? Like, it doesn't quite hit the kink, or it's crack and you wanted serious (or serious and you wanted crack), or it does the kink wrong?

Seriously, what's the etiquette? On the one hand, you've got your kink, anon kindly went to the trouble of writing it for you, you're happy, you should be grateful... but on the other hand, you're unsatisfied because it just wasn't what you wanted. What can you do?

It's happened to me a couple times with prompts I was pretty excited about, and it's kind of a bummer. :(

When I request, I always leave it up to the interpretation of the author. If I'm going to be so picky about my kink, I'll write it myself. The only reasons I ever request is to see someone else's take on my kink, and see how it can differ. I leave specifics for my own stuff.

Anyone else ever lose a prompt they wanted to fill? Like hunted through the whole meme and been unable to track it down? I wonder if I just imagined the whole thing now.

It was "Edgeworth/Girl!Phoenix". At least, I thought I saw it. -.-

Kind of, yeah. I don't think I even remember which prompts they were anymore. ;; I should seriously keep links or something. Though I imagine once the indexing community gets through more of 'em, it'll be easier to find them, provided it happens, hahaha.

Don't worry. I'm sure you weren't imagining it. I've seen two prompts like that. If you'd like, I wouldn't mind trying to find it for you. :) I think it's been filled before too, but more Edgeworth/Girl!Phoenix is A-OK in my book!
